30 Days Sugar free

Published on April 12, 2012 by in Uncategorized

I may have gone a bit insane, I live on sugar filled food. But, I’ve noticed more and more sugar highs & drops because I just don’t eat properly, it’s a bad cycle to be in so I’m stepping out of it. I’m starting off challenging myself to 30 days sugar free (refined sugar that is) to see if I can see any changes in myself and my energy levels. The weekly shop has just been done and while a few sugary items went into the trolley I’ll not be eating them – just things like ice lollies for the kids and they wanted a cake so I’ll just share it between them and their friends. I didn’t bother to buy sweetener for my brews, it’s just not the same so why bother? but I did pick up some honey (which I don’t really like) to make cake and biscuits, am just hoping that vanilla or almond extract will mask the honey flavour.

It’s just after lunch time on day 1 and while I’d normally have had a couple of teas with sugar and probably some chocolate and/or sweets from shopping I’ve just had some toast and I’m picking at mixed nuts which is completely alien to me but not too bad. I’m feeling a bit low on energy so I’m off in search of food :)

Woo pancakes

Oh how I love pancake day, we skip ‘proper’ food altogether and go straight for the good stuff. It’s probably the only day of the year that I can guarantee cleared plates from the little people who will happily munch on cheese & ham pancakes and then all sorts of sweet pancakes til their little hearts are content.. it’s slightly more work for me having to keep the pancakes coming but it’s worth it :)

I did forget to buy a lemon.. hopefully I have enough Nutella & bananas that they wont notice.. hopefully.

Hello World

If the grass were dry I’d have sat here for a while, it wasn’t so walking and slipping in mud was the way a good couple of hours were spent. I know, I know, hardly any time at all to be out in the open but it was cold. We will definitely be going back when it’s a bit drier and we’ll take food & maybe, just maybe we’ll go all the way to the top.

Whoops!

I appear to have forgotten about this place, I’m such a bad site owner. Luckily I’m a bit more successful at taking care of my kiddies & our cat. Since I last popped in we’ve had parents evening at school which made me extremely proud, 2 working above average and 1 working their little behind off trying to catch up on a couple of things. They’ve been trick-or-treating for the first time this year, I’ve never let them before and we’ve stayed home and done pumpkins & chocolate apples, but this year the weather’s (oddly) mild and people seem to be getting into Halloween more now and handing out sweets rather than cash.. I mean, I’m sure people everywhere like free cash but it doesn’t sit well with me to knock on a door & expect cash (though TBF I’m not a huge lover of giving my kids a ton of sweets either, such a mean Mummy ;) )
In other news it’s this month I get to go see the Red Hot Chili Peppers & meet my best friend, I’m so, so excited about both and I’ve a new camera to figure out beforehand too eeek.
I’ve discovered Pinterest too and lost a good few hours on there doing a complete overhaul of my house and lining up approx. 3,000,00 crafts I’d like to try.

In businessy things I’ve been making some chunky wrist warmers and cute hats and put them on my Facebook and I’ve been trying to work out a way to make some ear muffs, I so don’t want to give in & buy a pattern for them so they might not be available for a while since I’m a bit fussy!
I do keep looking for something new to try to make that people would be interested in also, I do make jewellery every now & then but there are sooo many people with much better talent than me in that dept. I’ll probably not being delving into that.. maybe Pinterest has some ideas. BRB ;)

Sunday

I love Sunday, it’s my potter about & get stuff done day. Generally I start in the kitchen and sort out any dishes and clothes that need putting away then through to the living room where all the junk the children have brought down gets shifted back upstairs then upstairs everything gets put back where it belongs so by Monday morning we get to start the week in some sort of order.. it lasts til about Monday tea time.. but still, it’s my little habit so I do it every week. I did do FlyLady for a while and it was so simple to keep on top of things but I started skipping bits here and there and I was soon back at square one, whoops.
Oh well, coffee & bagel time is over, better get back to my merry pottering way.
